Lionsgate Motion Picture Group has begun development on the fifth film in the franchise. “John Wick”, having reached the $1 billion mark in box office totals with four films released so far. Confirmation made by Joe Drakestudio head, in a presentation to investors.

“John Wick 4: Baba Yaga”, released this year, is the highest-grossing franchise with a global gross of $425.8 million. The audience response has had the studio excited since opening weekend. “John Wick” presents a different behavior in the market: instead of losing the public with each film, it sees its audience and its box office increase exponentially.
“We are developing three films, including ‘John Wick 5’ and the upcoming TV series ‘The Continental’. We’re building a world, so when the fifth film arrives, it’s going to build organically from the way we started telling these stories. But you can count on a regular John Wick beat,” said Joe Drake.

The Expanding Universe from “John Wick”
Two spin-offs are currently underway – one in a film format and the other in a series format. The film is titled “Ballerina” and come from “John Wick 3: Parabellum” (2019), which brings Angelica Huston as headmaster of a dance academy, which is actually a school for assassins. This film will be starring Ana de Armas (by “Blonde”).
The series is entitled “Continent” and is treated as the prelude to the film. He will be starring Colin Woodellwho played the younger version Winston Scottheading to The Continental hotel. “Continent” developed for the Prime Video platform.
